First Christmas in NC |2015

Hey lovelies! Hope everyone had a healthy, safe, and happy Christmas shared with loved ones and/or good company. My first Christmas in North Carolina was peaceful and lovely with all its new memories and traditions. My favorite part was sitting around my parents’ fire place watching everyone laugh, smile, and open presents. Of course, I enjoyed opening my presents, too, – come on now 😉 – so below I’ve shared with you some of my favorite gifts.

Steve Madden’s Eleanor:

After talking about these shoes for months, here, and stalking them at the nearest Dillard’s store, they’re finally in my possession thanks to my boyfriend! These shoes are the perfect style for transitioning from one season to the next, and as quickly as you can put them on is how quickly they can amp up an outfit. I especially adore the mature feminine edge they provide; not to mention, the suede gives a little something extra to the shoe, too.

Adele 25:

Ahhh, I’m listening to it right now as I type! Such an unexpected but totally awesome gift thanks to my mom. Adele, in my eyes, is perfection; a staple to every lady’s music playlist. I dream of seeing her in concert one day, but until that happens, I’m grateful to have her CDs, especially this one. I was blown away by “Hello,” and her other songs follow suit.

A special thanks to my boyfriend’s mom, who knows the way to my heart. I’m eager to learn about Kevyn Aucoin’s talent, style, and part in the beauty industry, and of course, it goes without say that it’ll be a beautiful copy to display with my other beauty and fashion books.

Make Up Forever Pro Sculpting Duo:

I love any chance I get to try something new at Sephora! I haven’t heard much about this duo, but I’m pumped to test it out, after-all, I’ve been meaning to work on my contouring and get it perfected because I have a feeling that contouring is going to be coming back in some way for 2016 – sorry strobing, which I posted about here.

H&M Leather Skirt:

Finding this skirt, trying it on, and seeing how it fit and looked gave me insight as to what it must be like for the people that buy a random lottery ticket, not thinking anything of it, and then hitting it big. For quite some time, I was on an unexplainable skirt strike, but for whatever reason, perhaps it reminds me of my buttoned up high-waist shorts, I fell in love with this button down skirt aesthetic whether it was in jean, corduroy, or velvet form. To be honest though, I couldn’t be happier with the skirt I brought because if I had to describe my style in one piece – this would be it. I love anything A-line because it gives my short stature a figure while also creating some dimension. The fact that it’s (p)leather is all I need. If you’ve checked out other posts of mine, you know my obsession, here, and love for anything leather. The silver zipper detail and lining is like the mascara topping off your perfected smoky eye for the night. Need I say more?

Snack Factory Pretzel Chips: Dark Chocolate & Peppermint

Here are all my much loved goodies in one. Not to mention, the perfect treats to snack on while working on blog posts, and catching up on my beauty gurus like Jaclyn Hill, who happened to post her “December Favorites” last night. Guess you know what I’ll be doing next!

What were your favorite gifts this year? Any surprises? Comment down below and share with me your plans for the News Year. Wishing everyone the very best for the year ahead. It feels like it’s going to be a good one!

Thoughts on “Kylie” by Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner’s lips have been the talk of the country for quite some time now, so surprise, surprise her new makeup collection “Kylie” by Kylie Jenner has taken three of her favorite colors and provided them in a liquid lipstick and lip liner formula for her fans and beauty addicts to devour. And why not, for at least a year, Kylie’s lips were all the rage on her Instagram page: King Kylie, particularly her notorious 90’s burgundy-brown grunge lipstick, which was believed to be MAC’s matte lipstick in “Whirl.” (It then became one of their most heavily sought-after lipsticks.)

Kylie Jenner Kylie Lip Kits

As if her lips weren’t controversial enough, Kylie has created her own Hollywood fame through her constantly evolving, sometimes “distasteful” yet intriguing wardrobe along with her infamous relationship with much older rapper Tyga, which never seems to have a beginning or an end. Despite it all, I have to give it to the girl for taking on the unmistakable idea of creating her own liquid lipsticks as it would have palpable success. I mean let’s think about it: everyone has had at least one favorite liquid lipstick from one of these brands: Jeffree Star, Colourpop, DOSE, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Lime Crime Cosmetics, or Kat Von D. Am I right? These are just some of the many makeup brands out there advertising and sporting the ever-increasing lippie, so it would be remissive of Kylie – of all people – to not hop on that bandwagon.

The night of the release Kylie posted a picture of her three lip colors from left to right: Dolce K, True Brown K, and Candy K along with this post: “Wow. Been dreaming of this day for 2 years now. This was a long process but an amazing one! Visiting the factories and sitting with the amazing chemists creating the perfect colors and formulas for you guys! This is all me and I put my everything into these lip kits. I hope you guys love them as much as I do. Definitely more to come. I only hope for it to get better. Enjoy.”

As a beauty junkie and a (secret guilty pleasure) Kylie Jenner fan, I haven’t decided for myself yet if I will be purchasing a lip kit, however, I am curious as to whether any of you lovelies have? If so, which ones? And – if you’ve decided not to, I’d love to hear your reasons why not.

Tiny LUSH Haul

Forewarning: tiny LUSH haul, but not so tiny blog! If you prefer to skip to the fun stuff – like what I actually got today – I promise I won’t be offended because I totally understand, but I feel the need to share with you my thoughts and experiences of the products I use so that maybe it will better inform you for when you make your own decisions regarding different items from brands and companies.

So today, I decided to treat myself after I got out of work by getting some items from LUSH, such as my favorite shower gel and two samples of skincare items. Recently, I’ve wanted to try more skincare products from LUSH because my latest skincare routine, which can be found here, though I love it – it hasn’t been the best as a daily skincare regime. For instance, I love, love, love Ultrabland. It’s freakin’ amazing, like literally, the best makeup remover I have ever tried for my face and eye makeup, particularly; although, I must admit that it’s probably a cleanser I should only use at night when I’m looking to take my makeup off, or if I feel I need to get my skin back in shape because it does have a heavy and oily consistency due to the beeswax and honey.

Side Note: Have you ever heard of the “30 Day Ultrabland Diet?” Its totally kick ass! Whenever I feel like my face is out-of-sorts, having a mind of its own, or I just don’t have the money or time to get a fresh facial mask, the “30 Day Ultrabland Diet” does the trick. The essential oils, honey, and beeswax take off my makeup as well as any leftover residue from the day while the rosewater and iris extract soothe the skin and leave it feeling soft and nourished.

Consequently, I feel the same way about my moisturizer: Skin’s Shangri La. For those days when I feel my skin is ridiculously dry and in need of severe moisture, Skin Shangri La is my knight in shining armor, yet, that’s probably the only time I should use it because it is the heaviest consistency of all the moisturizers. On a day to day basis, I could probably feel another LUSH moisturizer that will make my skin feel radiant, plump, soft, hydrated, and just overall healthy without the heaviness. Not to mention, both Ultrabland and Skin’s Shangri La can be on the pricier side when it comes to LUSH’s skincare: Ultrabland retailing between $17.95-$25.95 and Skin Shangri La retailing at $49.95.

Now for the haul!

Happy Hippy Shower Gel: ($9.95)

Happy Hippy

I brought a small bottle of the Happy Hippy Shower Gel because it smells soooooo, sooooo good! I’m obsessed with its grapefruit scent, so if you don’t love the smell of grapefruit or citrus-y products this might not be for you. It has fresh pink grapefruit juice, grapefruit water, and grapefruit oil – so yeah, I wasn’t kidding when I said it had a grapefruit scent. J But, in all honesty, it makes me feel uplifted, happy, and invigorated. It’s one of those shower gels that makes me feel positive and productive, even if I’m never able to know what it’s like to conquer the world Happy Hippy at least gives me the idea of the feeling I might have if I could.

9 to 5:

9 to 5

I got a sample of this softening cleansing cream, which is something I’ve never thought to try before. As a day to day cleanser, I thought this might be just what I’ve needed. The almond oil and dove orchid extract will moisturize and soothe, meanwhile, everlasting flower absolute will remove any leftover dirt, oil, grime, and/or makeup residue. This cleanser is also great in getting rid of any roughness and aids in the not so graceful process of aging.

I also got a sample of this simple gentle yet light and silky moisturizer. Celestial has vanilla water, which retains moisture, almond milk, which hydrates, and fair trade organic cocoa butter as well as fresh dove orchid extract, which keeps the skin feeling soft and glowing. Not to mention, this moisturizer smells ah-mazing and heavenly, especially before bed.

Are there any new skincare products your loving right now? Feel free to comment down below some of your favorite skincare products and why. In the meantime, have a wonderful night lovelies!

Winter’s Lip Duo

With winter around the corner and the cooler weather finally coming into effect, I’ve found that I’ve been reaching for my lip scrub and lip

balm a lot more lately. I have very dry skin, and so naturally, my lips get very dry as well. Last winter was probably the absolute worst state that my lips have ever been in, and there are tons of possibilities as to why my lips ended up the way they did, but regardless of what the case might be, it’s important that we remind ourselves to not be negligent in taking good care of our lips. I know that once I became diligent with my lip care routine I found myself thankful and happy with the results. Please feel free to share some of your lip care secrets as well as any lip products you’re enjoying/loving this month.

LUSH’s Mint Julips ($9.95):

Mint Julips

This edible lip scrub –yes, I said edible – is organic and handmade, as each of the ingredients is ethically sourced. This means that LUSH knows exactly what ingredients are being used, where they come from, and how they’re made. LUSH fights against animal testing – so these lip scrubs can be enjoyed without the guilt. My personal favorite: Mint Julips. I absolutely love anything that’s mint-related because it smells delicious, and reminds me of my favorite dessert combination: chocolate and mint. Each of the lip scrubs contains castor sugar, which gently exfoliates and gets rid of dead skin while the jojoba oil keeps your lips feeling nourished and plump. If the smell of chocolate chip mint ice cream doesn’t float your boat, LUSH has Popcorn for the buttery-caramel and salty and sweet lovers as well as Bubblegumfor the sugary sweet-tooth fans.

Rosebud Perfume Co. Minted Rose Lip Balm ($7.00):

Smith's Minted Rose Lip Balm

It wasn’t until I watched Lauren Elizabeth’sYouTube video a few months back, where she swore off all other chap-sticks and lip balms upon using Rosebud Perfume Co.’s lip balm, that I couldn’t resist the pull anymore. Another awesome cruelty-free and gluten-free product, this lip balm has that perfect silky smooth texture and easily spreadable formula. Any of Rosebud Perfume Co.’s lip balms can be found at Sephora, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie stores ($7.00). They also have Rosebud Perfume Co.’s “Strawberry” lip balm ($7.00) and Rosebud Perfume Co.’s “Rosebud Salve”  ($6.00), which is a great lip balm for calming down irritation and soothing burns (all thanks to the main ingredient: rose). According to Sephora’s website, it’s great for your elbows, knees, and diaper rashes, too. Who knew?! I say the more the merrier!

On a side note:

Rosebud Salve in Tube

When traveling, especially during warmer and hotter months, I opt for Rosebud Perfume Co.’s lip balm ($6.00) in a tube as it’s more sanitary and a neater way to travel; not to mention, less of a mess as the oil will melt out of the tin – trust me, I know from experience.

My lip of the day, or two days ago rather, was MAC (big surprise there, huh?) in Whirl with their lip liner in Burgundy. Though the two blended together surprisingly well, Burgundy is too dark of a lip liner for me to outline with Whirl, but all in all, I’m definitely loving MAC’s Whirl as “my lips but better” lipstick.

Lip Service

As for the occasion, I had a one-on-one meeting with a gentleman who runs his own publishing company. He was very interesting to talk to as we got to have many conversations regarding our love for writing, things we’ve written about, and how we’ve both ended up in North Carolina (he’s originally from Colorado). He was also an insightful writer with lots of experience, so he was able to give me some helpful tips and advice toward my own dreams as an aspiring writer. My conference within this gentleman curated from a much larger meeting, which I attended in a town over from mine about two weeks ago. The conference consists of small business men and women who gather around weekly to talk about what they do for a living, and then depending on your business or interests, a meeting between any two people can be set up to discuss further ideals.

Although most of the people at the meeting were much older and experienced than I was, it was an experience I’ll never regret because it was a great way to network. Just having the right conversation with someone new, even if it’s a five-minute conversation, can give you that inspired and thought-provoking feeling. The lesson I took away from that day was to be open to speaking to everyone and anyone – someone you think that might not be able to help you may know someone who can! Be confident of who you are and clearly and articulately express your goals, desires, and ambitions. If you don’t share your dreams, people can’t know what they are, and they can’t help you try to make them come true. Make sense or am I just sounding totally lame right now?

Smile Bright

Well, tell me what you think! In the meantime, here’s to chasing our dreams – constantly being in search and being active to make them happen and here’s to looking cute while doing so!  Hope you lovelies have a wonderful night!

MAC Matte Fashion Revival Lipstick Review

So here is my much overdue blog regarding MAC’s Fashion Revival Matte Lipstick. I’m not about to make excuses for it, especially seeing how some of you ladies are still in school going crazy with exams, and you’re still managing to make posts! My respect and admiration certainly goes out to you guys; now without further ado, here go my thoughts…

MAC Fashion RevivalFashion Revival, on MAC’s website is described as a “deep raspberry,” which couldn’t be more fitting because upon first look the tube of lipstick looks to be just that. The lipstick, however, applies a little lighter, though it’s still a sophisticated and might I add gorgeous, gorgeous berry color. The berry tone used for Fashion Revival seems to be complimentary for all ages and skin tones. Depending on your mood will determine whether you use a matching and/or nude or dark lip liner.

Though I think Fashion Revival is stunning on its own, I was lookingMAC Burgundy for a deeper berry for fall, which was my reason for picking MAC’s Burgundy lip liner. The two ended up looked amazing together, and the finished look was exactly what I was looking for. Even after I applied the Fashion Revival over the Burgundy, I went back to add more lip line in the corner areas of my lip as well as the middle of my bottom lip and my cupid’s bow to create that sort of ombre lip trend. Did I succeed?

MAC Look

Let me know in the comments down below if you’ve tried Fashion Revival and what do you think?  What are some of your favorite MAC Lipsticks? I think I’m starting to understand why you can’t just buy one MAC lipstick – they’re addicting! The price, pigmentations, lasting power, placement, application, color range and not to mention the packaging – how could you go wrong?!

Day At The Mall & A Sephora Haul

Over the weekend, my boyfriend and I had our date night. Usually on a day we both have off, we like to use the day to explore some place new. This time we decided to pick the mall we’ve heard most about since we’ve been living down here: The Streets at Southpoint Mall in Durham, NC. Let me just say, it was so, so worth the wait, and I would totally go back ASAP. For the mid-afternoon into early evening, my boyfriend and I checked out the inside stores, and then at night, we walked around the outside stores which had brick buildings with lights strung across the restaurants and stores while the fountains had cute statutes of little kids playing in the water. The place honestly looked like it was taken straight out of an Instagram or Pinterest picture; it was pure perfection.

Southpoint Mall

Since most restaurants required at least a 40 minute wait, my boyfriend and I went to a sports bar, which actually turned out to be quite quaint. I would’ve taken a picture of our food – a total “white girl moment” as my boyfriend says, but I was absolutely starving and devoured my food in seconds. Ahhh, just the thought of my plate – a pasta dish with red sauce and seafood – makes me want to go back for more! It filled that spot I had of missing my good ‘ole Italian restaurants and Italian cooking back home. Before we headed home, I made a stop at Sephora, and though this is probably the smallest haul I’ve done as of late, it was well-worth the purchase.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop
Retails for $38.00

I never thought I’d be able to get Becca x Jaclyn Hill’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop because of how quickly and often it was selling out, but my boyfriend convinced me to get it anyway, and I’m so happy he did because the one I picked was one of two that were left in that Sephora! Not to mention, the Sephora closets to my house has been completely sold out. So unlike when Jaclyn collaborated with Morphe, I don’t have to worry about feeling remiss this time! 🙂

Elizabeth & James Nirvana White Mini Rollerball Ornament
0.24 oz Retails for $12.00

The second item I purchased was a travel-sized perfume of the Elizabeth and James Nirvana White, which I’ve been dying to get for forever or realistically until it came out, ha-ha. With the Elizabeth and James Nirvana collection, I’ve learned that there’s those who love the white and hate the black, there’s those that love the black and hate the white, and then there’s the few who love both. I’ve actually heard that the two are meant to be mixed or that you can mix them together, and it creates quite a beautiful fragrance – whether that’s true or not that’s something you’d have to decide for yourself. I’ve learned that I absolutely hate the Nirvana Black. I can’t quite place what it is that I don’t like about it, but I’ve tried multiple times to see if my opinion’s changed, and it’s remained the same: I just can’t stand it. On the other hand, I love, love, love Nirvana White. It has this invigorating sweet and floral scent yet there’s this musky scent which follows soon after that makes it smell wonderful! To me, it’s like a grown-ups version of a sweet, floral perfume. I purchased the mini rollerball ornament as it’s great to toss in my purse, doesn’t break the bank, and I can get a feel for how it blends with my body chemistry before I think of purchasing the big bottle — possibly for the holidays… he-he.

Hope you lovelies had a wonderful weekend as well! Tell me what you did this weekend because I’d love to know. 🙂 Also, what are your thoughts on the two items I purchased?

October Favorites

With October coming to an end, I figured this post was appropriate to make; below are some of my favorite picks for the month, and some of which have quickly become my Holy Grail items.

MAC Fashion RevivalMAC Burgundy

MAC Matte Lipstick in Fashion Revival & MAC Lip Pencil in Burgundy: The perfect deep, plump, raspberry lips for fall! I love, love, love this color combination. It applies effortlessly and looks beautiful. Be sure to keep an eye out for a review very soon!

NYX Dark Circle Corrector

NYX Dark Circle Concealer Corrector in Light Pale: Without question, this has become one of my Holy Grail items! It blends seamlessly around the under eye area while also giving a very natural almost inner looking glow to the upper check area. Not to mention, it practically erases the dark purple and blue circles under my eyes. Though the consistency is great, it will separate fairly quickly, so it’s important to apply your setting powder ASAP.

Jean Pierre USA

Jean Pierre Makeup Remover Wipes: OH MY GOSH, these wipes! They instantly feel nourishing and cool to the touch. Instead of my skin feeling stripped of everything, these wipes take off my makeup but leave my skin feeling moisturized and refreshed. My skin isn’t irritated, and I don’t have that disgusting feeling of leftover makeup residue on my face. There’s also a light scent – I can’t quite explain what it is yet, but it’s nice! – to the wipes which makes taking off my makeup calming and soothing as well. Jean Pierre Makeup Remover Wipes almost make taking off your makeup fun. If you’d like to learn more about these wipes, click here.

Batiste Deep & Dark Brown Dry Shampoo
This one is perfect for dark-haired girls! Definitely recommend! 🙂

Batiste Dry Shampoo: Another Holy Grail item. Dry shampoo has practically been my only hair product over the past year, and that’s because it practically does everything I need it to do. It keeps my hair looking fresh, adds texture and volume, and at the very least, it makes my efforts look as though I was trying to go for that effortless grunge when in reality I just suck at doing my hair, ha-ha!

Essie Virgin Snow

Essie’s Virgin Snow: If you haven’t gone out and brought this yet, I suggest you do it. The color is beautiful on all skin tones, but I think it’s particularly stunning on fairer skin – so don’t stress too much if you’re losing that sun-kissed tan. This color is like fall perfected in a bottle, as it’s a stunning muted lavender which sometimes changes or looks as though it’s periwinkle. Much like the leaves in during this season, this is an impeccable color for this season.

Coco Chanel Book

Coco Chanel: The Illustrated World of a Fashion Icon by Megan Hess: I’m excited to have this book, as it’s the first book that will make my fashion and beauty book collection. My mom brought it for me while she was in New Jersey visiting family, and I absolutely adore it! As a beauty lover in the fashion industry, I feel it’s necessary to have books regarding what I’m passionate about, so that I can learn even more about the beauty and fashion world; however, I’m also excited to begin collecting them as I know they will make great decoration pieces for my home once I’m done reading them. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you on this book when I go through it!

What were some of your October Favorites? Anything you’re curious to check out for November? Hope you’ve enjoyed this post! Have a wonderful and safe Halloween weekend, and in the meantime, I will talk to you lovelies again soon!

MAC Cosmetics’ Makeup Class

Anxiously waiting for the class to start… 🙂

Today was a pretty cool day as I got my makeup done for free at MAC Cosmetics. My boyfriend, Will, surprised me by signing me up for a class, but if you’re interested in attending, all you have to do is set up an appointment. Mine lasted for an hour, but (I imagine) a class lasts from a half hour to an hour depending on what you want to have done. The makeup class isn’t really a class but a one on one session, which gives you a more personal connection and experience. My makeup artist’s name was Gina, and she really took the time to listen to my thoughts so that she could find what I was looking for while also answering any questions and concerns I may have had. Not to mention, Gina was freakin’ hilarious! I loved how one minute our conversation consisted of her giving me makeup advice and then the next she’d be sharing a story of when she was younger and experimenting with makeup.

The makeup look Gina did today was – of course – everyday, however, I asked Gina if she could teach me how to incorporate a neutral eye into my everyday makeup routine, especially since I’ve shied away from eye-shadow lately, and I’ve missed experimenting with my makeup more. Gina decided to come up with three different looks, which all included the same neutral warm eye palette. The first look consisted of a basic every day eye, which helped brighten and finish my overall makeup look; while the second look incorporated a deeper neutral placed on the outer corner of my eyes to give a slightly more intensive eye. Her last look included a pop of color to give me that little kick out of my comfort zone, and to be honest, it wasn’t at all what I was expecting because the color looked completely different in the pan compared to on my eyelid. But, I have to say Gina did a phenomenal job, and I have absolutely fallen in love with the look!

Final Look Eyes Closed

MAC Products Used: Painterly Pot in AC4, Warm Holiday Palette, Stubborn Brown Powerpoint Eye Pencil, Concealer Mineralized NW20 & NW20, Light Plus Mineralize A35 Skinfinish, & “Tonight Is The Night” eye-shadow

Would do you lovelies think? What are some of your favorite MAC products? I’d love to know! In the meantime, remember you’re beautiful with and without makeup. Have a wonderful night! xo

Jean Pierre Daily Cleansing Towelette

Am I the only one who struggles to find good makeup remover wipes that actually get the job done? A little while ago, I brought the Jean Pierre Daily Cleansing Towelettes because I was in desperate need of makeup remover wipes, and I was curious to try something new. If any of you were curious as to how it turned out, let me just say: I think the struggle is officially over.

Jean Pierre USASo where do I begin? Well, the price: plain and simple – you can’t beat it. Can you name a brand of makeup remover wipes that has 30 towelettes for $3.99? I know I can’t! Now if we’re taking about aesthetics, the packaging is this beautiful shiny gold, which makes taking off your makeup feel luxurious. However, my biggest contender would be hydration, as I’ve mentioned my issues with dry skin in my Drugstore and MAC Haul blog. If this is an issue for you as well, I highly recommend these towelettes! I love how the wipes remove my makeup effectively, but I don’t feel that disgusting leftover residue on my face or the burning and irritation on my skin as I have with some other brands. Not to mention the wipes have a nice light and clean smell, which helps you to feel invigorated and ready for bed. Subsequently, it’s great for those lazy, exhausted night where you’re not in the mood to go through your nightly skincare regime, and you don’t have to feel guilty about it because your these towelettes honestly make your skin feel clean and even toned. PH balanced to be exact, which is mentioned on the packaging.

In addition to the balanced feeling of my skin, Jean Pierre’s towelettes are pro-aging. In case you’re wondering the difference between anti-aging and pro-aging, anti-aging is for more mature women, as they can’t reverse the aging process, rather, they can only help improve how their skin is aging; whereas pro-aging is for younger generations because preventive action can be taken. Speaking of action, something I took note of and genuinely admire about the Jean Pierre brand is that they’re against animal testing.

Jean Pierre USA (2)

If you’d like to give the Jean Pierre Daily Cleansing Towelettes a try, they can be found online at,, and Walmart. I happened to find them at my local Harris Teeter store, and price ranges (both in store and online) remain around $3.99-$4.99. So, here’s to being chic and proactive at the same time.

Please feel free to leave something down below, and in the meantime, hope you have a wonderful night, lovelies!
